JustLend energy rental: what it really costs

JustLend DAO rents energy from the biggest pool on TRON, but each rental is two contract calls you pay for — renting and returning — plus a day of rent locked as a deposit. Its real price depends on how much you rent, for how long, and the hour you rent at.

Set the amount and the term: the calculator adds the rent, the charge for energy used, both contract calls and the deposit, at live figures.

Rate: the JustLend contract, live. A rental returned with its energy still used up keeps 0.75 day of rent; partly recovered, pro rata. The deposit is one extra day of rent and comes back at the return. Return on time: until it is returned the rent keeps accruing, and once the deposit runs out anyone can liquidate the rental. Call energy: medians of mainnet calls.

Why amount and term change the price

The two contract calls cost about the same for any rental — around 14,000 energy and 760 bandwidth while the contract owner still has energy, about 2.2 TRX burned. Spread over 65,000 energy that is 34 SUN per unit; over 10 million it is next to nothing. The term works the other way: a rental returned with its energy used is charged 0.75 day on top, so a one-hour rental is billed like 19 hours.

The term also changes how much energy you actually get. Used energy recovers over 24 hours while the rental lasts, so a receiver that keeps spending gets the amount once at the start and again for every day held: about 2× in one day, 4× in three, 31× in thirty. That is also why sellers price a day well above an hour: a one-day rental can be spent twice. The prices per energy used below count that recovery.

SUN per energy used, live: the receiver spends as it recovers (1 hour: 1.04× the amount, 1 day: 2×), the owner has energy, calls paid by burning TRX. Burning TRX instead: 100 SUN.

The owner's energy runs out at the peak

The JustLend contract pays 90 % of every call's energy from its owner's account, up to 90,000 per call. The owner holds no stake of its own: all its energy is one delegation, about 59.75 million a day, and nobody tops it up. On weekdays it runs out in the afternoon (UTC) — exactly when energy is scarce everywhere — and callers pay the whole call, about 70,000 energy: a 65,000-energy rental then costs about 15 TRX more.

Weekdays of 2026-09-23 – 2026-10-07, 29,822 calls. Red: more than a quarter.

Who rents on JustLend

Pools. Over three days to 2026-10-07, 151 addresses called the rental; the largest takes about 60 million energy per call and pays for the call with its own staked energy. Retail-sized renters, with three calls or fewer, were 1.6 % of the energy rented.

When JustLend makes sense

  • Large amounts: from about 1 million energy the calls stop mattering.
  • Outside the weekday afternoon (UTC), while the owner still pays 90 % of the calls.
  • With your own staked energy for the calls and a reliable return on time.

FAQ

Why does a JustLend rental cost more than the price on the board?

The board shows the rent with the 0.75-day charge for used energy. On top of it the renter pays two contract calls — renting and returning — in energy and bandwidth, and locks a day of rent as a deposit until the return.

Who pays the energy of the contract calls?

The JustLend contract's owner pays 90 % of each call's energy, up to 90,000 per call, while its own energy lasts; the renter pays the rest. On weekday afternoons (UTC) the owner's energy often runs out, and the renter pays the whole call.

What happens if I do not return the rental?

Rent keeps accruing against the deposit. When the deposit runs out, anyone can liquidate the rental for a bounty, so a JustLend rental has to be returned on time.
