Trust Wallet USDT TRC-20 fee

Sending USDT TRC-20 in Trust Wallet costs 6.43–13.03 TRX, or 3.11–4.55 USDT via Tronify when holding no TRX. Why Tronify rental fails and how renting saves gas.

Published · Updated

When sending USDT on the TRON network (TRC-20) from Trust Wallet, the fee depends on whether your wallet contains TRX. If you hold TRX, the TRON network burns ≈ 6.43 TRX when sending to an address that already holds USDT, and ≈ 13.03 TRX when sending to an address with zero USDT balance. If your wallet holds no TRX at all, Trust Wallet routes the transaction through its partner Tronify, charging 3.11–4.55 USDT[2] paid directly from your USDT balance.

Both defaults are significantly more expensive than delegating energy to your address before the transfer. Renting energy cuts transaction expenses to a fraction of the raw TRX burn price and completely removes the need for Tronify’s multi-dollar USDT fee.

Each transfer is one 1-hour order at 25.34 SUN per energy; an order total rounds up to 1,000 SUN, as quotes do. Day average = the day's windows weighted by length. Burn: 100 SUN per energy (getEnergyFee). Schedule from the published grid.

Two ways Trust Wallet handles USDT TRC-20 fees

What a USDT transfer costs in Trust Wallet depends on how the TRON resources (energy and bandwidth) are supplied:

MethodWallet requirementFee per transferWho provides the energy
Standard transfer (burning TRX)Wallet holds TRX≈ 6.43 TRX or ≈ 13.03 TRXTRON network burns your TRX
Built-in gasless send (Tronify)Zero TRX, USDT only3.11–4.55 USDT[2]Tronify delegates energy + top-up sends 0.80 TRX[4]
Independent energy rentalRented energy delegatedLow rental cost (0 TRX burned)Delegated energy from rental service

On a standard transfer with TRX in your wallet, the TRON blockchain consumes energy from the sender address. If the account has no delegated energy, the network burns TRX at 100 SUN[1] per unit of energy (getEnergyFee[1]). A transfer to an existing USDT holder requires 64,285[5] energy, while sending to an empty address consumes 130,285[5] energy (mainnet samples, 2026-09-30).

In addition, each transfer consumes ≈ 345[5] bandwidth. Active accounts receive 600 a day[1] for free every 24 hours. Once that daily allowance is exhausted, the network burns an additional ≈ 0.35 TRX.

How Tronify works inside Trust Wallet

When Trust Wallet detects that your balance has insufficient TRX to cover on-chain gas, it presents an option to pay the network fee in USDT. Behind this interface sits an integration with Tronify[3]:

  1. Two transactions signed: When you confirm the send, you sign two separate transfers simultaneously: the main USDT transfer to your recipient, and a fee transfer of 3.11–4.55 USDT[2] to Tronify’s collector address (TDii6vao...[4]).
  2. Resource delivery: Tronify delegates the required energy to your address, and its top-up wallet (TUSYcK5y...) transfers 0.80 TRX[4] to cover bandwidth.
  3. Execution: The USDT transfer executes using Tronify’s delegated energy, without requiring you to purchase TRX on an exchange.

While this mechanism is convenient for users stranded without TRX, it is an expensive convenience. At 3.11–4.55 USDT per transfer, Tronify’s fee is in the range of burning TRX for a transfer to an empty address.

Why the Tronify energy rental fails

People search for this error every month. Tronify does not publish why a rental fails, so we will not guess. One thing follows from how the transfer works and is worth checking yourself:

  • Enough USDT for the amount and the fee together. The fee of 3.11–4.55 USDT comes out of the same USDT balance as the transfer. If you send your whole balance, nothing is left to pay the fee.

If the balance is fine and the error persists, you can send without Tronify: rent energy to your own address and send USDT the usual way (below).

If Tronify’s energy rental fails, do not repeatedly retry without checking your pending transactions. If your wallet balance allows, the cleanest workaround is renting energy directly to your address.

How to send USDT from Trust Wallet with minimal fees

You do not have to burn 6.43–13.03 TRX or pay Tronify 3.11–4.55 USDT every time you transfer funds. You can rent energy independently for your Trust Wallet address:

  1. Check the recipient’s wallet status: Use our address checker to see whether the recipient already holds USDT (64,285 energy) or has a zero balance (130,285 energy).

  2. Rent energy to your Trust Wallet address: the rental is paid in TRX, from one of two places:

    • another TRON wallet you control: connect it on buy energy and enter your Trust Wallet TRON address as the receiver;
    • TRX on an exchange: top up your account balance in the dashboard by withdrawing TRX to the top-up address shown there, then order energy for your Trust Wallet address from the balance.

Never withdraw TRX from an exchange straight to the rental payment address: energy paid by a plain TRX transfer goes to the address that paid, which would be the exchange’s wallet, not yours. Energy is delegated to your address once the order is paid.

  3. Submit the transfer in Trust Wallet: Open Trust Wallet and send your USDT normally. Because your account now has sufficient delegated energy, the network consumes that energy first. No TRX is burned for energy. We have not yet tested how Trust Wallet behaves when the address has energy but no TRX at all, so keep a little TRX (next step).

  4. Maintain a minimal TRX balance for bandwidth: Keep 1–2 TRX in your wallet to cover bandwidth burns (≈ 0.35 TRX per transfer) in case your 600 a day free quota has already been consumed.

For automated or business payouts using TRON wallets, you can also use our API to automate energy delegations programmatically. For more details on overall TRON transfer pricing, see our guide on USDT TRC-20 fee.

FAQ

How much is the Trust Wallet TRC-20 fee for USDT?

If your wallet holds TRX, Trust Wallet performs a standard TRC-20 transfer: burning ~6.43 TRX if the recipient already has USDT, and ~13.03 TRX if their USDT balance is zero (plus ~0.35 TRX bandwidth when the daily free allowance is used up). If you have zero TRX, Trust Wallet uses Tronify to deduct a fee in USDT directly: 3.11–4.55 USDT in our tests.

Can I send USDT from Trust Wallet without having TRX?

Yes. Trust Wallet has a built-in integration with Tronify that allows paying network fees directly in USDT instead of TRX. You sign a transfer for the amount plus a fee of 3.11–4.55 USDT. However, renting energy to your address before sending is much cheaper.

Why does the Tronify energy rental fail in Trust Wallet?

Tronify does not publish why a rental fails. One thing follows from how the transfer works and is worth checking: the fee comes out of the same USDT balance, so it must cover both the amount and the 3.11–4.55 USDT fee. If the error persists, rent energy to your own address and send the transfer the usual way.

How can I lower USDT TRC-20 fees in Trust Wallet?

Rent energy to your Trust Wallet address before initiating the transfer. When you send USDT, the TRON network consumes the delegated energy instead of burning TRX, so you pay only the rental.
